Hello! I’m Giulia from Agriturismo I Due Ghiri, and welcome to our little corner of paradise in Liguria. If you’re looking for an agriturismo near the Cinque Terre, perhaps to enjoy the beautiful villages but also escape from the crowds, you’re in the right place. Here, you’ll find an authentic alternative: a home away from home, where peace reigns supreme and every guest is welcomed like an old friend.
Our agriturismo in Val di Vara is located in the green Val di Vara, an enchanting valley just a few kilometers from the Ligurian coast. It’s a still-genuine and little-known area, far from the chaos, where you can rediscover the slow rhythms of nature. Together with my family, I’ll be happy to let you taste the good old-fashioned cuisine, sincere family hospitality, and direct contact with nature – all elements that make our agriturismo special. After all, I Due Ghiri was born with this purpose: to offer travelers a different agriturismo experience near the Cinque Terre, far from the crowds, where you can relax and experience the most authentic Liguria.

Val di Vara: An Authentic Alternative to the Cinque Terre
Visiting the Cinque Terre is a wonderful experience, but I know how challenging it can be to face the crowds of tourists and crowded trails. Here in Val di Vara, however, the landscape changes completely: the villages are authentic and silent, surrounded by wooded hills and cultivated fields. Our valley is also known as the "Valley of Organic," renowned for its genuine products and sustainable lifestyle.
At our agriturismo, you’ll wake up to the sound of birds instead of the buzz of tourists. You can walk along the trails through fragrant pine and chestnut woods or relax in the shade of a tree with a good book. It’s the perfect alternative for those who, after a day in the colorful streets of Monterosso or Vernazza, want to return to a peaceful place and breathe in the fresh hill air.
Family Hospitality and Genuine Flavors
One of our strengths is hospitality: I Due Ghiri is a family-run agriturismo, and from the moment you arrive, you’ll feel like you’re at home. My family and I love getting to know our guests, chatting in the evening under the porch, and sharing the stories of this land. Our rooms are rustic and comfortable, renovated in the local style – you can check them out on our website to get an idea. We like to take care of every detail so you can enjoy a restful night after your excursions.
Naturally, a stay at our agriturismo wouldn’t be complete without some home-cooked meals! Every morning, we treat you to a rich breakfast made with products from our garden and the local area: homemade jams, freshly baked cakes, fresh eggs from our chickens. And if you decide to stay for dinner, you’ll get to taste the typical Ligurian recipes at our table. In our small agriturismo restaurant, we serve genuine and seasonal dishes – from homemade pasta with basil pesto, to freshly picked vegetables, to local cheeses and artisan cured meats. It will be a pleasure for us to let you taste the authentic flavors of this land.
Nature and Relaxation Away from Mass Tourism
At Agriturismo I Due Ghiri, peace and relaxation are guaranteed. Imagine returning from a trip to the crowded Cinque Terre: here, at your return, you’ll only find the silence of the countryside and the starry sky above you. You can lie down on the grass and listen to the sounds of nature – the rustling of the wind among the trees, the crickets chirping in the evening – and leave behind the hustle and bustle of tourism.
We have deliberately preserved the rural spirit of the place. Surrounding us are olive groves, meadows, and woods where you can walk freely. If you love animals, you’ll get to meet our chickens and the house cat, who often makes friends with the guests. It’s the perfect setting to regenerate: many of our visitors tell us that after just a few days here, they feel rejuvenated, thanks to the slow rhythms and the serene atmosphere that permeates the place.
Strategic Location: From the Cinque Terre to Pisa, Everything Within Reach
One of the advantages of staying at our agriturismo is its truly strategic location. We are in a quiet hillside area but well-connected: in about 50 minutes by car, you can reach the famous villages of the Cinque Terre (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore). If you prefer, there are convenient trains from La Spezia or Sarzana stations that will take you to the heart of the Cinque Terre National Park in just a few minutes, without having to worry about parking.
Gulf of Poets: Lerici and Tellaro
In less than half an hour by car, you can reach the wonderful Gulf of Poets. Here, you’ll find Lerici – with its castle on the sea and hidden coves – and the village of Tellaro, listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy for its timeless atmosphere. These seaside towns offer romantic panoramas and unforgettable sunsets, and they’re perfect for an evening stroll along the seafront, away from the crowds. On the official Lerici website, you can discover events and trails, but nothing beats experiencing them in person after a relaxing day at the agriturismo.
Sarzana, Between History and Craft Shops
About 20 minutes from our farm is Sarzana, a lively medieval town famous for its antique shops and cultural festivals. Walking through the streets of Sarzana means diving into history: you can visit the Firmafede Fortress and the Santa Maria Cathedral, or explore the small craft shops in the historic center. We often recommend that our guests stop here, perhaps during their arrival or departure, to discover an authentic corner of Liguria that is little known to international tourism.
Tuscan Art Cities: Pisa and Lucca
By staying with us, you’ll have the opportunity to easily explore Tuscany as well. In about an hour by car, you can reach Pisa, where you can admire the famous Piazza dei Miracoli with the Leaning Tower (a must-see, perhaps by buying tickets on the official Pisa website to avoid the lines). A little further north, you’ll find Lucca, a charming city with imposing Renaissance walls surrounding a historic center full of Romanesque churches and quaint piazzas. On the Lucca tourist portal, you can find out about events and itineraries, but the most beautiful thing is getting lost among the alleys and perhaps renting a bike to take a ride around the tree-lined walls. Coming back to our agriturismo after exploring these art cities means finding a peaceful retreat where you can rest and recharge your energy.

I hope I’ve conveyed the passion and love we put into our work here at Agriturismo I Due Ghiri. If you dream of a vacation that’s different from the usual, far from the mass tourism circuits but close to spectacular places, our door is always open.
We are waiting to welcome you with open arms to let you experience the authentic atmosphere we offer: peace, great food, family hospitality, and plenty of nature will greet you as soon as you pass through the gate.
