Hi! I’m Giulia from Agriturismo I Due Ghiri, and today I’m taking you to discover a lesser-known side of the Cinque Terre.
Our guests often ask me: “Do you know any quiet beaches where we can escape the crowds?”
The answer is yes—and today I’d love to share with you 4 secret beaches in the Cinque Terre that we always recommend to our most curious visitors.
Our farmhouse is in the perfect location: surrounded by the green hills of the Val di Vara, just a few kilometers from La Spezia. It’s a peaceful yet strategic spot, ideal for visiting not only the Cinque Terre but also the beautiful Gulf of Poets.

Canneto Beach – The Secret Waterfall of Riomaggiore

Not everyone knows that just a few minutes by boat from Riomaggiore lies one of the most enchanting bays on the coast: Canneto Beach.
It’s a wild and authentic corner where the green cliffs meet the blue sea, and a small freshwater waterfall flows right onto the beach.
The best way to reach it is by renting a small gozzo (traditional Ligurian boat) or joining a boat tour—since it’s only accessible from the sea, it’s the perfect spot if you’re looking for peace and quiet.

Marina di Corniglia – The Sea You Don’t Expect

Corniglia is the only village in the Cinque Terre without direct access to the sea… or at least that’s what it looks like. In reality, at the foot of the town, lies a hidden cove called Marina di Corniglia, which you can reach by following a path down through olive trees and dry-stone walls.
It’s a pebble and rock beach where time seems to slow down. The water is crystal clear, the view is enchanting, and often you’ll find yourself completely alone. Bring water and a snack with you—there are no bars or restaurants here, just the sound of the waves.
Fossola Beach – Silence Among the Pines

Between Riomaggiore and Portovenere stretches a rugged coastline known as Tramonti: a wild, little-frequented area where the sea has carved out coves and inlets. Among them, my favorite is Fossola.
Getting there takes some planning: like Canneto, you’ll need a boat or a guided sea excursion. But once you arrive, it feels like stepping into another world. The scent of pine trees, the turquoise water, and the pale rock create a truly timeless atmosphere.
Il Gigante – Monterosso’s Quiet Side

Monterosso is the largest and busiest village in the Cinque Terre, yet it still holds a few secrets. One of them is the beach of Il Gigante, named after the massive reinforced concrete statue carved into the cliff.
Just move a little away from the main beach and walk toward the marina to discover a quieter area, mostly visited by locals. The water here is perfect for snorkeling, and in the early morning the sun lights up the rocks in a truly magical way.
After a day spent exploring hidden beaches and scenic trails, there’s nothing better than returning home to the cool, green countryside of Liguria. At Agriturismo I Due Ghiri, you’ll find seasonal, homemade cuisine, cozy rooms surrounded by nature, and the chance to join workshops and tastings.
I’ll be more than happy to help you plan your days with local tips on what to see in the Cinque Terre, where to eat, and how to get around. And maybe I’ll even reveal a few more secret spots—but those, only in person!
